As part of the City of South Padre Island’s expansion of public amenities, our team leveraged grant funding for dune protection to provide new parking, handicap accessible dune walkover, restroom facilities, and hydration station.  The restroom design employs durable, low-maintenance materials that were chosen specifically for the harsh coastal environment.  Our design strategy employed a louvered wall system that provides visual privacy while allowing ample air-flow and natural light to transform the small restroom into an airy refuge that reads as an internally illuminated lantern at night.
